Productivity is all about efficiency, to do more work in less time.
If you feel you donโt have enough time to do everything you want to do during the day, itโs about your skill for time management.
So this is the time to boost your productivity by managing your time.
Here are a few tips I have experienced to be more productive.
To-do list
I am planning my day the night before. Therefore every day I used to take notes of my next day plans.
This way I am,
- Clearing my head by writing down everything
- Can organize works according to my productive hours
- Get an understanding of what I have to do
- Can start the most important works as soon as I wake up
Get up early
This is so hard for some people, but my productive time is in the morning. A quite house build up the peace of mind to take a good start
Prioritize the tasks
I am categorizing my works as,
- Important & not urgent
- Non-important but urgent
- Neither important nor urgent
This is called the Eisenhower system, the most famous & widely-used productivity technique.
By segmenting works according to above,
- I am managing to complete the most critical & hardest tasks first
Starting the hardest work is the hardest.
In some cases, people wait for the perfect time & condition to start. My belief is the perfect time & condition never exist. So with this plan, it allows to JUST start.
Once you get going, you will automatically get into the track to continue the task for hours until it is completed.
note: Make sure to reward yourself
I am rewarding myself for completing hard & complicated tasks.
A little coffee & cheerful music is more than enough for me to be rewarded. This boosts my energy as well as motivates me to keep going.
- Could categorize similar tasks into one batch
Iโm grouping works like attending to emails, blogging & phone calls into a single batch.
Therefore I am saving time by completing similar tasks in one session.
Eliminate distractions
- My first thing is to clear the working space. Either itโs my table, computer or office room, all unnecessary things put into dump & only the current ongoing projects are with me to access easily.
I am spending the last five minutes of the previous working day to clear the space to get ready for the next day.
- Get rid of phone calls, email notifications, social media applications & multiple web browsers open in the desktop.
Quite multi-tasking
The ability to get things done depends on how well you can focus on one task at a time. My experience is multi-tasking create more errors & less creativity.
Finally, it becomes wasting of time with desperation. To boost your productivity try to be monotask at a time.
Take a break
You canโt be always working at your optimum productivity.
Instead, use to take breaks to refresh your self.
Just stand from your chair & walk around. Go out for lunch. If possible take short showers. Do exercises, listen to music, and find some humor to laugh.
This will make you stress less & definitely boost your productivity.
Set exciting goals
Believe me, without worthy goals you are not motivated to be more productive. So am I.
Therefore think deep & set SMART goals to boost your productivity.
SMART stands for,
Specific
Measurable
Assignable
Realistic
Time-related
In this way, you will never forget why & for what you are working for.
Therefore you will definitely love the works you are doing.
Donโt get angry with your self
When you fail, do not get angry with yourself. Do not let your mind be broken. Hence look the good part of that.
At least you might have to learn a new thing. You have gathered experience & you will never give a second chance for that mistake.
Learning through mistakes is the most successful; turn the failure to the motivation of success & be strong.
As per Dan S. Kennady,
Productivity is the deliberate, strategic investment of your time, talent, intelligence, energy, resources, and opportunities in a manner calculated to move you measurably closer to remaining goals.
HAVE A PRODUCTIVE DAY!
